The project

Quiet luxury, built properly.

Set behind electric gates on a tree-lined road just off Ashley Road, this is a home where every surface has to earn its place. The brief was timeless rather than trend-led: pale herringbone oak throughout the ground floor, crisp white joinery, painted sash windows and hand-finished detailing that will look as good in twenty years as it does today.

The heart of the house is an open-plan living, dining and kitchen space running the width of the rear, opening through bi-fold doors onto a sandstone terrace. A garden room beneath a large roof lantern pulls light deep into the plan, and three further reception rooms give the family flexible space to live and work.

Scope & finishes

  • Flooring — engineered oak in herringbone and parquet patterns, carried through reception rooms, hallway and principal bathroom.
  • Kitchen — painted shaker cabinetry with a full-height larder wall, quartz-topped island, antique mirror splashback and brushed brass hardware.
  • Bathrooms — five en-suites including a principal bathroom in large-format marble porcelain with a freestanding bath, backlit niches and wall-hung sanitaryware.
  • Joinery — painted staircase with hardwood handrail rising through three storeys, deep skirtings, cornicing and panelled internal doors.
  • Glazing — slimline bi-folds, a structural roof lantern and traditional sash windows with stone surrounds.
  • External — resin-bound driveway, electric gates on brick piers, integrated double garage, sandstone terrace and raised lawns with brick retaining walls.
